This session explores practical strategies for strengthening sustainable coastal and marine tourism in Nelson Mandela Bay. As tourism continues to grow along South Africa’s coastline, balancing economic development with environmental protection has become increasingly important. The discussion will focus on how government, tourism businesses, researchers, and coastal communities can work together to protect marine ecosystems while supporting long-term tourism growth. Key themes will include responsible tourism practices, conservation of marine biodiversity, sustainable resource management, and the role of the blue economy in regional development.Attendees will gain valuable insights into collaborative approaches that enhance visitor experiences, support local livelihoods, and ensure the preservation of the region’s unique coastal and ocean environments for future generations.
